Serj Tankian Identifies the Most Terrifying Metal Band System That Has Ever Been Used For A Down
Ahead of the release of his upcoming extended play (EP) titled “Foundations,” Serj Tankian gave an interview to Revolver magazine in which he discussed his career, both as a solo artist and with System of a Down.
In response to the question of which band would be the most difficult to open for, he disclosed, “Slayer, without a doubt.” With Slayer, there is no one on the earth who is as terrifying to open for. During the time when we were opening for them, their enthusiasts were giving us the death sign.
System of a Down went on tour with Slayer in 1998, which coincided with the release of their debut album, which was titled after themselves. As stated in a previous interview conducted by John Dolmayan, the band known as “War Ensemble” was more gentle with SOAD than they were with their audience while they were performing.
When asked if they encountered any difficulties in their early years as an Armenian band, the drummer once responded to the question by saying, “Let There Be Talk.” It is not. It was with Slayer that we went on our first tour, and once you’ve performed in front of a Slayer crowd, everything else becomes much simpler. And they were really tolerant of us, very supporting, and the folks were extremely polite to us, and they would actually listen to what we had to say.
According to him, “Slayer audiences can be extremely cruel.” “Tom Araya, the vocalist and bassist for Slayer, approached us and said, ‘Let me know if you have difficulties.’ They started watching us every night after that. I miss them very much because they were very kind to us, supporting, and great people. I miss them very much.
In August, System of a Down gave their final live performance, which took place at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. It is still unknown what the band’s plans are for the future because they have not mentioned any new material since the release of their singles in 2020, which were titled “Genocidal Humanoidz” and “Protect the Land.”
