Mike Shinoda Worries Brad Delson Will Ruin His Emily Armstrong Dynamic
Mike Shinoda claimed in a new official podcast episode that Brad Delson was ‘hesitant’ to rejoin Linkin Park. Shinoda said Armstrong and Brittain supplied enthusiasm, but Delson may wreck the band’s chemistry.
We didn’t want to burden Emily or Colin, but Brad was apprehensive. His resistance was slight. We understood all the baggage was hard, so we kept saying, “The door is so super open to you,” gently. We’d love to have you on board—we value your perspective, Shinoda said.
“And we have concerns,” he said. Adding anyone may ruin our nice chemistry with the three of us, Emily, and Collin. I think you’ll like it if you come in. He did and tried it. He originally said, “I think we could write something heavier, like way heavier.”
After the band’s first gig with Emily Armstrong, the guitarist announced his decision on social media. “Everything we create together makes me proud. This new chapter will not include me on tour, but I am pleased to meet Alex—my attractive deputy on the road,” he wrote. “Alex is a world-class musician, a kind and thoughtful friend, and we are lucky to have him join our LP universe. Fresh eyes, honest admiration, and dedicated effort led to this memorable occasion. The honor of sharing our creativity. Thank you for traveling with us.”
A month following the statement, new Linkin Park drummer Colin Brittain was asked if the guitarist would perform again. Brad may not perform live. You must ask him, he said. Touring guitarist Alex Feder joined the band. He debuted with Armstrong and Brittain on live-stream.
First track from upcoming album “From Zero” released last month. On November 15, the whole album will be released.
