Metallica’s Helping Hands 2024: Full Setlist, Epic Tributes, And Black Carpet Highlights

On the evening of Friday, Metallica performed their fourth Helping Hands Concert and Auction in the city of Los Angeles. YouTube Theater served as the venue for the event, while the band’s All Within My Hands Foundation was the recipient of completely all of the revenues. Jimmy Kimmel was the host of the event, and it was attended by a wide variety of prominent people. Among those who walked the black carpet were the actor Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman, and Tom Morello, who plays the guitar for Rage Against the Machine.

Following the performance of SistaStrings, an all-star quartet consisting of Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, and Kenny Aronoff, the event began with SistaStrings, a pair consisting of a violinist and a cellist who had received formal training.

In the beginning of the acoustic segment, they played a song called “Low Man’s Lyric,” which was a tune that they hadn’t played since 1998. After that, they finally played “The Unforgiven II” for the first time since 2015. The set also included the song “Away From Home” by Bachman–Turner Overdrive, the song “Helpless” by Diamond Head, and a rendition of “Hit The Lights” by Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam, who joined them together for the performance. There was also a song called “If Darkness Had a Son” on the setlist. Songs such as “Nothing Else Matters,” “Orion,” “The Shortest Straw,” “Until it Sleeps,” “Screaming Suicide,” “Fuel,” and “Master of Puppets” are included in this collection.

The All Within My Hands Foundation was established in 2017, and its mission is to empower communities to become self-sufficient through the promotion of workforce education, the fight against hunger, and the provision of assistance with other essential local services. The charity has secured more than fifteen million dollars. This includes funds totaling $8.2 million for programs that provide career and technical education, such as the Cutting-Edge Metallica Scholars Initiative, which is currently in its sixth year of operation. Additionally, the foundation has provided more than $3.6 million to the fight against food insecurity and more than $3.5 million to the relief operations following natural disasters.
