In contrast to Guns N’ Roses,
During an interview that was conducted by All Day Vinyl in May 2024 and was just recently made public, former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum was questioned about whether or not he has been invited to any of the band’s shows since their reunion. The invitation has not been sent to me yet. ‘Hey, come on over and see the band.’ I’m thinking to myself, ‘Eh, I don’t think so.'” the drummer confessed further.
After that, Sorum discussed his involvement with Billy Gibbons’ solo band, which is a member of ZZ Top, as well as his own music. Given that I am in the domain of Billy Gibbons, I feel as though I have the ability to pass away and enter heaven. Every time I look at that, I think to myself, “Well, if I were doing [the Guns N’ Roses reunion], I wouldn’t be able to go through with this.” In addition, this would not have taken place. In addition, this would not have occurred in this location. Furthermore, I would not have any time for my child.
He continued by saying, “So all of those things that are going through my head are like, ‘I’m where I’m supposed to be.'” And I am saying that. It’s a load of nonsense, people say. It is imperative that you are a member of the band. I’m thinking to myself, “Well, if I’m being completely honest, at first, it was a little strange.” “Okay, well, it’s a reunion,” I’m thinking to myself. So, let’s call it a reunion now, shall we? However, such has not been the case. At this point, I am much more at ease with it than I was when I first started thinking about it. In all candor, I will ”
At the time of his resignation from the band in 1997, Sorum had already made appearances in the albums “Use Your Illusion I,” “Use Your Illusion II,” “The Spaghetti Incident?,” the 1994 cover of The Rolling Stones’ song “Sympathy for the Devil,” and the most of the albums that were included in the compilation titled “Live Era: 1987-1993.”
In a different interview, Sorum acknowledged the fact that he was not invited to the Guns N’ Roses reunion that took place in 2016. “At first, it was a little strange,” she said. To be honest, I didn’t even receive a phone call asking me to be a part of it. I was taken aback. On the other hand, my perspective has shifted since then. I consider it in the same way that I did when I mentioned it earlier: I am not intended to be there. I started a family. A stunning woman became my wife. It is impossible for me to predict what would happen to me if I were to get up there. I am the old me, the old Matt, the old person. As for me, I have no idea,” the percussionist added.
A tour for the year 2025 was been confirmed by Guns N’ Roses. In the first concert of the tour, which will take place on May 23, the band will give their very first performance in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This will be followed by a show in Abu Dhabi.
Following the first two performances, Public Enemy will join the band for the remaining shows till the 26th of June. Rival Sons will begin playing the role of the special guest beginning on June 29. Sex Pistols, which will feature Frank Carter, will perform for two dates in late July.
