When it comes to the rule that “rock bands have to stick to original members,” Gene Simmons challenges it
In an interview that took place not so long ago with Adam Carolla, Gene Simmons posed a challenge to the notion that rock bands should have original members. There is no misunderstanding, but you guys are all dreaming, and you are not competent to create these rules, which are things like, “Oh, you have to have the original members and all that stuff.” It’s not accurate at all,” the bassist said to the audience.
He went on to say, “In point of fact, when Brian came in, AC/DC exploded, and they began to grow five times larger than they were before.” Along the same lines, despite the fact that I find [David Lee] Roth to be the most attractive member of Van Halen due to the sleaze and the personality that he exudes in his appearance, they achieved twice as much success with [Sammy] Hagar. They have just done it. It was then that they began engaging in balladry.
Simmons responded to the host’s statement that he loves Hagar and that he is a wonderful guy by saying, “I’m not talking about what people like; I’m just taking into consideration how big you get.” Similar to how the book of Genesis began with Peter Gabriel. As he departed. Phil Collins, the drummer, was brought on board after they decided that they did not like him. During the time that they were performing in stadiums, the drummer was on top. Therefore, there are a great number of examples, one of which is the Beatles.
It is also the opinion of John 5 that it is preferable to continue touring with a new member rather than to disband the band following the loss of a member. In a conversation that took place earlier this year with Jeremy White, the guitarist expressed his concerns on the collapse of rock bands. He explained, “It’s very strange, because all of these bands, they’re slowly going away.” And the fact that we have a terrific rock ‘n’ roll band makes it seem extremely frightening to me.
Nevertheless, he continued, “But we need more good rock ‘n’ roll.” We are in need of additional bands to perform there. It is necessary for there to be more bands that can say, “Look at me!” I am looking forward to seeing new rocks. The fact that they are leaving makes us dependent on them.
Since I am a fan, I am speaking. It would be amazing if AC/DC could perform one more time. Oh, how I wish I could see… Incredible, if you ask me. The Rolling Stones are a worthy example. What would happen if, upon the passing of Brian Jones, the Stones were of the opinion that “That’s it.” Rolling Stones ceased to exist.’ It would be a few records for us. Unbelievable, isn’t it?,” the guitarist remarked at that point.
The Gene Simmons Band, Simmons’ solo band, will embark on a tour in the spring of 2025. Simmons will be performing with the band. Tallahassee will serve as the starting point for the tour, which will begin on April 28 and have a stop in Red Bank, New Jersey, on May 5. In Houston, it will come to an end on May 24.
