There is a possibility that Gene Simmons will release a cover album after his album “Stormy Weather”
There is a potential that Gene Simmons will produce a cover album following the publication of his album titled “Stormy Weather. “The possibility of a cover album following the release of ‘Stormy Weather’ was brought up by Gene Simmons in a recent interview with Newsweek.
A rendition of the song “Stormy Weather” by Ethel Waters was recorded by the bassist exclusively for the film “Reagan.” Simmons has thought about recording more covers and maybe making an album of them, like Johnny Cash’s ‘American’ series.
He explained, “I sat down with producer Rick Rubin, who worked on those Johnny Cash albums, and we had a brief conversation about the very same subject.” Gene gave a clue that it is inconclusive whether or not the project will be carried out.
There was also another artist who contributed to the film, and that was Bob Dylan. A high-quality rendition of Dylan’s cover of “Don’t Fence Me In” was just made available by Rawhide Pictures, the production company that was responsible for the film “Reagan.” This rendition was included during the film’s closing credits.
In addition to that, they published a video of Simmons recording the song to YouTube, which was accompanied by clips from the movie. The song was titled “Stormy Weather.” The song is accompanied by a basic piano and symphonic music in the background. Many famous artists, like Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, and Frank Sinatra, have recorded ‘Stormy Weather,’ and Waters’ version was added to the Grammy Hall of Fame.
In his solo work, Simmons experimented with a variety of cover songs, such as his rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star” and the original song “Waiting for the Morning Light,” which he had written with Bob Dylan.
During an interview with Spin in the year 2024, Gene discussed the reasons behind his decision to record the song for a film about the Gipper. He made the observation that “music has become compartmentalized.” Rock music over there, country music over there, and hip-hop music over there. My goal was to offer a song that was written in a style that was accessible to a large audience and reflected the era in which the film was set. It would be a good idea to watch this movie.
Besides Dylan and Simmons, the film also features songs by Clint Black and Tanya Tucker. The movie arrived in August and covers many stages of Reagan’s life, not just his time as president.
