Singer Robert Smith of The Cure discusses the reasons why the album ‘Songs of a Lost World’ was almost titled ‘Live From the Moon’

When I was a kid, I was very enthralled with the moon landing, and it was the fifty-year anniversary of that event. The first thing I wanted to do was become a football player, but if that didn’t work out, I wanted to become an astronaut. In light of the fact that the world appeared to be heading in that direction, I had the impression that it was something along the lines of, “Well, if I fail at football, I’ll be an astronaut.” What was I doing wrong?,” Smith started out. Smith added that there was a strict prohibition on the use of contemporary technologies within the studio. “We had everything from 1969, including periodicals, newspapers, toys, and board games. One of our favorites was the Apollo board game, which is an excellent game, especially when you have a few pints of Welsh beer in your system. After I left the studio, I realized that the world that we had made in Rockfield no longer existed, and the world that I was celebrating no longer existed. As a result, we merely created that kind of mood, which was referred to as “Songs of a Lost World,” for a period of one month.
