Oasis fans, get ready—something truly special is brewing for the iconic band’s long-awaited reunion. With their highly anticipated Oasis Live ’25 tour kicking off on July 4, excitement is at an all-time high. And now, there’s even more buzz surrounding the band’s return, thanks to a major reveal: legendary session drummer Joey Waronker has officially joined the lineup.
Over the years, Oasis has seen several drummers occupy the hot seat—from original member Tony McCarroll to Alan “Whitey” White, Steve White, Zak Starkey, and most recently Chris Sharrock. But for this historic comeback, the Gallagher brothers have tapped Waronker, a seasoned pro known for his work with artists like Beck, R.E.M., Elliott Smith, and Thom Yorke’s Atoms for Peace. It’s a bold move, but one Liam Gallagher is fully on board with.
Responding to a fan who asked whether Waronker fits the Oasis sound, Liam didn’t hold back his enthusiasm. “He’s the best, and we’re lucky to have him,” Liam declared. “I’ve enjoyed all our drummers, but this guy is special.” That’s high praise from the notoriously outspoken frontman, who rarely gives compliments unless he truly means them.
Waronker’s addition to the lineup only adds to the excitement surrounding the tour, which marks the first time in 16 years that Oasis will hit the stage together. Alongside Liam and his brother Noel Gallagher, the reunion will reportedly feature longtime bandmates Andy Bell on bass and guitarists Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Gem Archer—reuniting much of the classic Oasis sound fans have dearly missed.
However, Liam couldn’t help but stir up a little drama before the big tour launch. On the morning of June 9, he posted a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter) that read, “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 6.30 am,” instantly sending fans into a frenzy. Social media lit up with speculation—was he about to drop new tour dates, a surprise album, or a last-minute warm-up gig?
The truth turned out to be far less dramatic. Just hours later, Liam cheekily followed up with the message, “I WORK OUT,” which sent some fans into a full-blown meltdown. One frustrated follower accused him of playing with their emotions, while another bluntly posted, “I F–KING HATE YOU.” Never one to miss an opportunity for banter, Liam replied, “Hate is such a strong word.”
Eventually, the singer acknowledged he might’ve taken the joke too far. “Gotta admit that was good craic,” he posted, “gotta you all riled up to ras.” He then issued a sincere apology, saying, “If I caused any distress and upset anyone this morning I’m deeply sorry. That wasn’t my intention. I thought it was a bit of fun. I got it wrong. Please forgive me.”
With the world tour dates set—including stops across the U.K., North America, Asia, Australia, and South America—fans can finally count down the days to one of the most talked-about reunions in rock history. And with Joey Waronker behind the drum kit, Oasis 2.0 might just be worth the wait.
