Eminem’s Stalker Receives 30 Years In Prison

DETROIT, MI – The stalker who twice broke into Eminem’s home, including one incident where he told the rapper he was there to kill him, has officially been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.

Matthew Hughes, 32, was handed two consecutive sentences:

  • 15 to 30 years for first-degree home invasion

  • 3 to 7.5 years for aggravated stalking

He is also legally banned from having any contact with Eminem and must stay at least 500 feet away from the rapper’s home or workplace for the rest of his life.

😨 A History of Dangerous Obsession

This isn’t Hughes’ first run-in with the law — or with Eminem.

Back in April 2020, Hughes broke into Eminem’s gated home in Clinton Township around 4 a.m. Slim Shady later testified in court that he woke up to find Hughes standing directly behind him in the living room.

When Eminem asked, “What are you doing here?”
Hughes replied, “I’m here to kill you.”

The chilling incident was brushed off with a plea deal at the time, resulting in 5 years probation. However, Hughes quickly violated that probation just months later by being arrested again for assault in November 2021.

😱 Second Break-In — A Line Crossed

Shockingly, Hughes was released on parole in May—only to break into Eminem’s property again just a few months later.

This time, the court didn’t show mercy. During last month’s jury trial, Eminem himself testified against Hughes, helping the court secure a conviction.

In a disturbing twist, Hughes had also been arrested in 2019, after being caught sleeping in the guest house of a property formerly owned by Eminem — showing just how long this obsession has lasted.

⚖️ Justice Served

Fans online are now breathing a sigh of relief, knowing that the man who once told Eminem to his face he planned to kill him is now behind bars for decades.

The rapper has remained mostly private about the ordeal but made it clear through his courtroom testimony that he feared for his life and the safety of his children.
