David Lee Roth Responds to Alex Van Halen’s Public Allegations on Social Media
David Lee Roth addressed allegations on social media after Alex Van Halen said he undermined the homage to Eddie. The vocalist posted a video titled ‘LA River Yacht Club’ on YouTube without providing any clarification. He further shared the identical video on his official Instagram account.
DLR released this video immediately following Alex Van Halen’s interview with Rolling Stone. This is the first video he has released in the past two months. A fan commented, “Alex’s interview in Rolling Stone did not reflect well on you, Dave.”
The chat with Alex was unexpectedly surprising to me. Dave and Alex appear to be friends. Abundant mutual respect. Alex harbored a disdain for the Hagar era, hence expressing enthusiasm. Another individual stated. “Why is Alex Van Halen claiming that Dave dismantled the Van Halen tribute to Eddie?” “What would motivate him to act in that manner?” another individual remarked.
Following Eddie Van Halen’s death, a reunion tour was planned; however, according to Alex Van Halen, Roth undermined these arrangements. The final tipping point was when I stated, ‘Dave, we must, at some juncture, explicitly acknowledge Ed throughout the performance, without any subservience.’ “If you observe Queen’s approach, they utilize archival footage,” Alex stated.
“As soon as I mentioned the need to recognize Ed, Dave became extremely agitated…” The venom expressed was astonishing. I originate from the streets. “If you speak to me in that manner, I will severely harm you.” The drummer said, “You got it.” He persisted, “And I intend that.” Thus, it concluded. Indeed, my goodness. I felt as though I no longer recognized him. I hold his work ethic in the highest regard. However, Dave, it is imperative that you collaborate as a community. It is no longer solely your responsibility.
Van Halen’s final tour occurred in 2015, comprising Alex, Roth, Eddie, and Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie’s son, on bass. They conducted performances in around 40 cities throughout North America over a span of several months.
