While promoting his new documentary, Rock Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Springsteen chose to address his wife’s battle with a rare blood cancer. The vocalist disclosed, “She is progressing well; we detected it early, which was crucial.” It is a challenging illness that induces significant fatigue. Despite some positive developments about his wife, Scialfa was initially diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018.

Scialfa utilized the documentary to promote awareness of the disease without evasion. This impacts my immune system, necessitating caution in my activities and destinations. She remarked, “Occasionally, I attend a show or two and perform a few songs on stage, which has been a delight.” That is my current norm, and I am content with it.
Scialfa said that battling cancer has been challenging, particularly with touring. She stated, “Touring has become a challenge for me,” as she required time to concentrate on her health. Nevertheless, her passion for music compelled her to return. “I have been performing with this band for four decades.” The initial performances provided a profound sense of fulfillment in returning to the stage.
Scialfa, married since the early 1990s, achieved prominence as a member of Springsteen’s E Street Band. After touring with the band for several decades, the guitarist secured a position beside her husband in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
