Billie Eilish Dominates 2025 AMAs With Seven Wins; Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars Follow With Three Each

Billie Eilish Sweeps 2025 American Music Awards With Seven Wins
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars follow with three wins each at Las Vegas ceremony hosted by Jennifer Lopez

Billie Eilish reigned supreme at the 2025 American Music Awards, taking home all seven awards she was nominated for — the biggest sweep of the night. Her wins included Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Pop Artist, Album of the Year and Favorite Pop Album for Hit Me Hard and Soft, as well as Song of the Year, Favorite Pop Song for “Birds of a Feather,” and Favorite Touring Artist.

Eilish’s dominating performance at the AMAs comes on the heels of a somewhat frustrating awards season. Hit Me Hard and Soft peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, becoming her first studio album not to hit No. 1, and despite seven nominations, she was shut out at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The AMAs, however, delivered her long-overdue flowers.

The 51st American Music Awards were held Monday night (May 26) at Fontainebleau Las Vegas and marked the show’s return after a two-and-a-half-year break. Jennifer Lopez served as host for the first-ever CBS broadcast of the show, which moved away from its longtime home in Los Angeles.

Trailing Eilish on the leaderboard were Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, who each picked up three trophies. The duo’s hit collaboration “Die With a Smile” earned them Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Music Video, while Gaga also won Favorite Dance/Electronic Artist, and Mars claimed Favorite Male Pop Artist for the third time.

Other multiple winners included:

  • Post MaloneFavorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song (“I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen)
  • SZAFavorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Song (“Saturn”)
  • The WeekndFavorite Male R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album
  • BeyoncéFavorite Country Album (Cowboy Carter) and Favorite Female Country Artist
  • Bad BunnyFavorite Male Latin Artist and Favorite Latin Album
  • EminemFavorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album
  • Twenty One PilotsFavorite Rock Artist and a second unspecified win

One of the night’s biggest shocks came in the New Artist of the Year category, where Gracie Abrams won despite being one of the less-nominated contenders. Abrams bested high-profile nominees like Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, and Teddy Swims — all of whom had multiple nods, with Roan a favorite after winning the Grammy in the same category earlier this year.

Taylor Swift, the most awarded artist in AMA history with 40 wins, left the 2025 ceremony empty-handed. Despite six nominations, she lost key categories including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year to Eilish — marking her first AMA shutout since 2007. She wasn’t alone: Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, and Sabrina Carpenter were also shut out despite having six or more nominations each.

In the country categories, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter continued to make history. She became just the third Black or biracial artist to win Favorite Country Album, following Charley Pride (1974) and Kane Brown (2018). She also took home Favorite Female Country Artist, tying Rihanna with 13 career AMA wins — good for fifth-most among women.

Dan + Shay claimed Favorite Country Group for the fifth time, tying them with Brooks & Dunn for second place in the category behind Alabama’s record 17 wins.

Bad Bunny extended his dominance in the Latin categories, winning Favorite Male Latin Artist and Favorite Latin Album for a fourth time each — matching legends like Enrique Iglesias, who won the original gender-neutral version of the category eight times.

And in a throwback win, Eminem claimed Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist for a record-setting fourth time.

With new faces rising, genre lines continuing to blur, and artists like Billie Eilish reshaping pop stardom, the 2025 AMAs signaled a clear shift in the musical landscape — and gave fans plenty to talk about.
