After suffering a stroke, Brian May’s wife discusses whether or not the Queen guitarist could still play
Following the stroke that Brian May experienced earlier this year, Anita Dobson, the musician’s wife, has provided yet another update on the musician’s health concerns. During his most recent interview with The Mirror, Dobson discussed his health in detail. “He is doing lot better now, and he has stabilized the situation, which is wonderful. All I can say is that I really hope that this doesn’t happen again. She proceeded by saying, “He is now able to use that arm, which was a bit of a challenge back then.” So, yes, he is ready to travel at this point. In the house, he is the one who plays the piano pretty frequently. He is a big fan of Beethoven’s music. Simply put, the piano in the house is a very peaceful instrument, and I absolutely adore it.
The first time he attempted to play an instrument was after he had made a significant amount of progress in his recovery. And then, very gradually, he began to take up an acoustic guitar and gradually just exercise the muscles around his neck and shoulders. It returned in a very short amount of time,” Dobson continued.
The guitarist for Queen informed his followers about the health issue in a statement that he made on social media in September. He also gave them the assurance that he was making progress in his recovery. It was explained by May that the “minor stroke” occurred unexpectedly and caused him to temporarily lose control of one of his limbs he was using. He referred to the occurrence as “a little scary,” but he lauded the “fantastic” medical care that he received. “Everything is fine, and I’m doing what I’m told, which is essentially nothing,” he responded. “I am not permitted to go out, nor am I permitted to drive, nor am I permitted to board an aircraft, nor am I permitted to boost my heart rate to an excessive degree. But I am doing well.”
Queen’s tour with Adam Lambert came to an end in February, and the band does not currently have any live performances scheduled for the foreseeable future. In spite of this, Queen Extravaganza, the official Queen tribute band, is planning to embark on a tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2025 in order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’
