Pearl Jam is performing a deep cut of their song “The Whale Song” for the very first time ever

The deep cut from the 1990s known as “The Whale Song” was performed by Pearl Jam for the very first time ever on Friday (September 27). You can watch the demonstration below. The song, which was initially included on the compilation titled “Music For Our Mother Ocean 3” in 1999 and was later included on the album titled “Lost Dogs” in 2003, was performed by the band while they were performing at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California. They opted to go deep into their repertoire in order to play the song.

Jack Irons, who was the band’s drummer at the time, was the one who ultimately came up with the song, and for this particular performance, he was accompanied by his son, Zach Irons. Check out this video of the song that was caught by fans:

“It’s a song written by one of our great drummers named Jack Irons,” frontman Eddie Vedder said upon introducing the song onto the world. Jack was asked, but he was unable to be present at this time. We didn’t just get the next best thing; we got something that is just as good as his dad. Mr. Zach Irons is going to be joining us on this upcoming song, so we’re really excited about that. He is going to play the guitar with his left hand, and we are going to sing, and we are hoping that it will connect with you and transmit vibrations to our friends who are out there in the ocean.

A cover of Ted Nugent’s 1975 song “Stranglehold” was performed by the band earlier this month in Baltimore. Vedder improvised during the performance, saying things like, “I don’t own a gun/ I don’t ever want to own a gun/ I don’t own a gun, never want to own a gun.”

Nugent, who is an outspoken pro-gun ownership activist, responded online by writing: “Hey Eddie join me on my RAV [Real America’s Voice show] spirit campfire to discuss how your insane liberal policies have created an explosion in engineered violent recidivism while you fight to disarm helpless innocent citizens.”

In 2018, Pearl Jam released a tune titled “Can’t Deny Me,” which they dedicated to the teenagers who were protesting the spike in gun violence in the United States. Pearl Jam has been open about their opposition to the situation.

During the summer of this year, NME was able to witness Pearl Jam perform at Mad Cool 2024. The publication wrote, “There is no doubt that the band aren’t new to these huge headline shows, and the structure is clearly one that has been refined throughout many years of touring.” Pearl Jam, on the other hand, demonstrates that this is not a copy-and-paste set with their performance, and the notions that they have a profound connection to Spanish fans are not in any way empty words. The former guitarist for Pearl Jam, Josh Klinghoffer, entered a not guilty plea to the charge of vehicular manslaughter in a court in California last week. last is another piece of news.
