Elton John says “there’s not much of me left” in health update

Whatever way you look at it, Elton John has had one of the most successful and long-lasting careers in British music. The ‘Rocket Man’ singer has topped the charts for over 60 years and filled massive venues worldwide. John, 77, says he has health concerns now.

John’s recent health issues may have influenced his decision to retire following his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour last year. After health scares and surgical procedures, the songwriter and pianist informed fans last week that “there’s not much of me left,” in a public appearance.

The musician announced this at the Elton John: Never Too Late premiere. The Disney+-produced documentary, directed by R. J. Cutler and David Furnish, will chronicle Elton John’s ascent to prominence and personal and professional triumphs. The documentary centers on his latest international tour.

John said, “To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left,” to the premiere throng. He added, “I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I have no prostate, right hip, left knee, or right knee. My only remaining part is my left hip.” He added, “But I’m still here.”

Despite all of this, the songwriter stayed positive throughout the premiere and still makes public appearances after his performing career ended. A life spent touring, creating, and producing new music will strain your health into old age, yet Elton John remains optimistic despite his health issues.

Elton John’s future is uncertain. Since retiring from public performance, he has collaborated with Dua Lipa and Yard Act in the studio. In the next years, he may continue working as an overqualified session musician as he seems to like it. It wouldn’t be unexpected if John retired from the music profession to spend time with his family. John perseveres despite his health issues.

Elton John’s latest health scare?
Last month, John shared that a severe eye infection left him with reduced vision in one eye. John had this infection all summer and was still recovering last month. John stated on social media, “I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.” Adding, “I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.”
