Kim Kardashian may have to relive a traumatic 2016 robbery in which she had a gun held to her head as a trial over the robbery begins in Paris.
The 44-year-old reality star is expected to testify in the trial — which commenced at Paris’ Palais de Justice on Monday — nearly a decade after the jewel theft, according to Sky News.
On October 2, 2016, she was robbed of her jewels by five men disguised as police officers who were described in French media as the ‘Grandpa Gang’ due to the advanced age of the alleged robbers — though some of the people charged with the crime are fairly young and one defendant is a woman.
Shockingly, Kim was seen flashing incredibly valuable jewelry in public just days before news broke that she would likely testify, which led to widespread criticism, including from jewelry experts.
In a statement, Kardashian’s attorney Michael Rhodes confirmed that she would likely testify next month.
‘[Kim] Kardashian is preserving her testimony for the Court and jury and does not wish to elaborate further on it at this stage,’ he said. ‘She has tremendous appreciation and admiration for the French judicial system and has been treated with great respect by the French authorities.’
